Ingredients
Showing the cocktail. Switch to Mocktail for the alcohol-free version.
- 1¾ oz (52 ml) bonded apple brandy, such as Laird's
- ¾ oz (22 ml) Pedro Ximénez sherry
- ½ oz (15 ml) mezcal
- ice
- long lemon twist, to garnish
- 2–3 Richberry halves
How to Make It
Stir
Stir the apple brandy, sherry and mezcal with ice in a mixing glass. Or build it straight in the glass over one large cube and stir 5 or 6 times.
Strain
If you used a mixing glass, strain into a double old-fashioned glass over fresh ice.
Add the twist
Squeeze the lemon twist over the drink to release its oils, run it around the rim and drop it in.
Add the Richberry twist
Just before your first sip, chew 2–3 Richberry halves gently and let them linger for about 30 seconds. Discard any pit, then taste how the sour notes turn sweet.
Richberry changes the taste, not the drink: a cocktail may taste softer, but it is just as strong. Please enjoy it responsibly.

Mocktail (Non-Alcoholic)
Apple juice stands in for the brandy and a little strong black tea adds a dry edge; keep the lemon twist.
