Silver tray of white rice pilaf with golden crust pieces, dried apricots, raisins and walnuts
Nutty. Fragrant. Comforting.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup brown rice, soaked
  • ½ cup button mushrooms, sliced
  • 6 oz almonds, chopped
  • 3 oz cashews, chopped
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

How to make it

  1. Soften the aromatics

Heat the oil in the slow cooker on its sauté setting (or in a pan) and cook the garlic and onion until lightly browned.

  2. Add the rest

Stir in the almonds, cashews, rice, mushrooms, cardamom, salt and water.

  3. Cook low and slow

Cover and cook for 6–7 hours, until the rice is tender, then serve hot.

The Richberry difference

A naturally brighter taste

Miraculin, the protein in the miracle berry, can make sour flavours taste sweeter for a while. The food itself stays the same; only your taste changes.
