Ingredients

Stew

  • 1.1 lb lean pork, chopped
  • 1 whole onion
  • Garlic crushed, to taste
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 6 cups water

Optional Vegetables

  • Bok choy or Chinese cabbage
  • Potatoes peeled and cubed
  • Carrots sliced

How to make it

  1. Flavour the water

Bring the water to a boil in a large pot, then add the garlic, onion, salt and pepper.

  2. Add the pork

Chop the pork into bite-sized pieces and add it to the boiling water, along with any vegetables you're using.

  3. Simmer and serve

Keep it boiling for 30 minutes, until the pork is tender, then ladle into bowls and serve hot.

The Richberry difference

A naturally brighter taste

Miraculin, the protein in the miracle berry, can make sour flavours taste sweeter for a while. The food itself stays the same; only your taste changes.

Tip

Add leafy bok choy or Chinese cabbage in the last 5 minutes so it stays bright; potatoes and carrots can go in with the pork.

Serve with

Steamed rice, with fish sauce and calamansi or lime on the side for dipping.

Richberry tip

Just before you eat, chew 1–2 halves gently and let them linger for about 30 seconds. Discard any pit.
