White dish of glossy green beans tossed with red onion and pecans, with two serving spoons
Smoky. Crisp. Peppery.

Ingredients

  • ¼ lb pepper bacon, chopped
  • ¾ cup red onion, chopped
  • 4 cups green beans, chopped

How to make it

  1. Crisp the bacon

Fry the pepper bacon in a hot skillet for about 2 minutes, until crisp, then pour off most of the fat.

  2. Soften the onion

Add the red onion and stir-fry until it softens.

  3. Steam the beans

Stir in the green beans, cover the pan and let them simmer for 2 minutes, then spoon onto a serving plate.

The Richberry difference

A naturally brighter taste

Miraculin, the protein in the miracle berry, can make sour flavours taste sweeter for a while. The food itself stays the same; only your taste changes.

Tip

For softer beans, add a splash of water with the beans and keep the lid on for 3–4 minutes longer.

Serve with

Roast chicken, grilled pork chops or steak, or as part of a holiday spread.

Richberry tip

Just before you eat, chew 1–2 halves gently and let them linger for about 30 seconds. Discard any pit.
